rusaudit.r52.ru was the site of ZAO "Rusaudit — Nizhny Novgorod" (Русаудит — Нижний Новгород), a Nizhny Novgorod audit firm: the footer of the home page carried the company's copyright and its phone numbers in the Nizhny Novgorod code — "Tel/Fax: (831) 212-09-61, 212-09-62, 212-09-63"[1]. The directory of the Nizhny Novgorod portal nn.ru listed it as the "regional representative of the RUSAUDIT firm for the Nizhny Novgorod region," offering "audit services, accounting, financial analysis"[2]. The site sat in the Nizhny Novgorod domain zone r52.ru; web archive snapshots span from March 2002 to January 2020[3].

What the site looked like

Only one parsed snapshot of the home page has come down to us — from January 24, 2013. It was a small corporate landing site, titled "News: Rusaudit — Nizhny Novgorod." The top menu had two sections, "About the Company" and "News," with a list of services below in four lines: "Audit of reporting in accordance with Russian legislation," "Audit of financial statements under International Standards on Auditing (ISA)," "Related services established by the federal auditing activity standard," "Other services connected with auditing activity"[1].

Everything else on the page was taken up by a news feed. The preserved text of the home page contains no postal address for the office, no names of managers, no price list — only the name, phone numbers, the list of services, and a "Site design and development" link in the footer[1].

News instead of content

The feed on the home page was neither local to Nizhny Novgorod nor about the firm itself. The top entry, dated December 4, 2009, concerned the professional trade: as the home page reported, on October 30, 2009 the Non-Commercial Partnership "Institute of Professional Auditors" (IPAR) "received the status of a self-regulatory organization entered in the state register of SROs"[1]. The other five items were federal business news from August 2009: Gazprom Neft's purchase of a network of 40 filling stations and two oil depots in Chelyabinsk Region, Mirax Group's lawsuit against Credit Suisse over the mortgaged Mirax Plaza business center, a weekly mergers-and-acquisitions review by the analytical group ReDeal, an agreement between Magna and Sberbank with General Motors over a controlling stake in Opel, and a change of Russian owner at the German shipyards Wadan Yards[1].

The gap between the dates is telling: the snapshot was taken in January 2013, while the most recent news item on it is from December 2009. The home page had stood untouched for more than three years[1].

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

In the nn.ru directory the site was listed under the path "Directory: Firms (Enterprises): Legal Services"; the snapshot of this category is dated August 16, 2002[2]. The list in the category was sorted by the Counter.nn.ru counter score: at the top were "Yuristy — Lyudyam" (Lawyers for the People) with a rating of 133, "Audit i Pravo" (Audit and Law) with 71, the law office of A. F. Shmelyov with 40, and further down, "Auditorskaya firma FinEskort-NN" (FinEscort-NN Audit Firm) with 7. ZAO "Rusaudit — Nizhny Novgorod" fell into the second half of the list, where every line read "Rating: none"[2]. The surviving counter samples record no figures of the site's own, so there is nothing to judge its traffic by.

The site did not take part in the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day vote of 2004: it is absent from the final table, although its neighbors in the r52.ru zone — riann.r52.ru and dom.r52.ru — are listed there[4]. Neither in that table nor in the surviving counter samples did the site leave a trace: the only record by which it is visible at all in the cross-section of the era — the Nizhny Novgorod Internet of the early 2000s — is a line in the directory category. How it closed

There is no exact closing date. Updates stopped no later than the end of 2009, but the address itself held on much longer: the last snapshot in the web archive is dated January 28, 2020, with 55 requests to the home page in the archive inventory in total[3]. By the time this survey was compiled, the domain rusaudit.r52.ru no longer existed — attempts to reach it found nothing. What remains online of Nizhny Novgorod's "Rusaudit" is four lines of services, three phone numbers, and someone else's business feed, frozen in August 2009[1].
