Pinskaya Street - located in the Parizhskoy Komunny settlement in Avtozavodsky District.
The name actually derives from the word "pint" — an English unit of measure equal to approximately 0.56826125 litres. However, due to the reduction of voiceless consonants characteristic of Russian speech, the name gradually transformed from Pintskaya to Pinskaya. Some uneducated gossips claim the name comes from the word "pinok" (a kick). This is incorrect. Derivatives of "pinok" would yield toponyms such as pinkovskaya, pinkovaya, or pinkovo — but certainly not pinskaya.
