isimonov.narod.ru is the personal homepage of Igor Valentinovich Simonov, a Nizhny Novgorod official and lecturer, hosted in the free "Narod.Ru" zone and listed by the Nizhny Novgorod site directory nn.ru in its personal pages section (/rub/)[2], known from web-archive snapshots spanning October 25, 2001 to March 15, 2024[1][3].

What the site looked like in 2001

The first version of the page was an extensive personal profile with a menu of sections: "Brief Biographical Information," "Resume (archived version)," "Work," "Send Me a Letter," "Teaching," "Research Interests," "Texts of My Articles and Others," and "Hobby"[1]. The author introduced himself as "Igor Simonov, an official from Nizhny Novgorod" and stated that he was born on November 13, 1958, "in Nizhny Novgorod (then still the city of Gorky)," where he had lived without ever moving away[1]. According to the page's text, he graduated from the History Department of the Faculty of History and Philology at Gorky (Nizhny Novgorod) State University, worked as a teacher at a technical college, then at the regional Komsomol committee, at Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University, and in the administration of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast[1]. At the time of the 2001 snapshot, the homepage reported, the author held the post of 1st Deputy Director of the Department for Public Relations, Confessional and Interregional Cooperation of the Administration of the City of Nizhny Novgorod[1]. The page also stated that the author was a Candidate of Philosophical Sciences and associate professor, who in 1993 defended a dissertation at the Herzen State Pedagogical University (St. Petersburg) on "the features of the socio-ideological activity of the Russian Orthodox Church in the early 20th century," and continued to teach the course "Religious Studies" and the special course "Sociology of Religion" at NGPU[1]. The section with texts of articles, in the author's words, was devoted "mainly to religious-studies topics"[1].

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The site was noticed by the Nizhny Novgorod directory nn.ru and listed in its personal pages section[2]. No visit-count data for this domain is recorded in the surviving samples from Counter.nn.ru, and there are no votes for it in our data for the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day either — this indicates an absence of information in the available sample, not zero visits to the site in reality. For more on the place of personal pages in the overall picture of Nizhny Novgorod resources of that era, see the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating and the general overview of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet.

Fate of the address

By December 2013, the substantive part of the page had disappeared: instead of the biography and list of articles, the site showed only a brief "business card" with a disclaimer that "the person to whom this business card belongs has no connection to the advertisements appearing on the page"[2]. The business card listed an email address written as "simonov-pfo (snail) yandex.ru" and a new position: chief adviser of the staff of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District (department for the implementation of public projects), State Counselor of the Russian Federation, 2nd class, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, associate professor of the Department of Philosophy and Theology at Kozma Minin Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University, with the date "6.10.2013" at the bottom of the page[2]. The last surviving snapshot, dated March 15, 2024, shows the same unchanged business card word for word, including the same date "6.10.2013" beneath the text[3]. As of a check in August 2026, the site at this address was responding.
