Lapshikha is located in the central part of Sovetsky District. It has been part of the city since 1933. The name derives from Finno-Ugric roots: "lap" — "lowland," "sha" — "stream." According to another version, the name has a patronymic origin, derived from the Russian surname Lapshin. The name Lapshikha is also used to refer to a tram loop terminus.
