nmgk.ru is the corporate website of the Nizhny Novgorod Fat and Oil Plant (Нижегородский масло-жировой комбинат), an enterprise located at 603950, Nizhny Novgorod, Zhirkombinata Highway, 11[2]. In the Nizhny Novgorod Internet directory on nn.ru the address was listed as "the official server of AOOT 'Nizhny Novgorod Fat and Oil Plant'" with a list of products — oil, stearin, household and toilet soap, cosmetic and technical stearin, margarine: the card preserved the era when the plant was still called an open joint-stock company. Snapshots of the home page in the web archive span from May 2001 to March 2025. When checked in August 2026, the domains nmgk.ru and www.nmgk.ru responded with a permanent redirect to the fats-and-oils business page of the Rusagro group[5].

What the site looked like in 2016

In the snapshot dated 29 January 2016, the home page opened with a statement that the NMZhK group of companies was "a producer of food products, food ingredients and cosmetic products that make life simpler and more pleasant," as the home page put it[1]. The top menu was split into five clusters: "About the company" (Innovations, Quality and Standards, History, Awards, Social Responsibility), "Business" (Food Ingredients, Food Products, Cosmetic Products, HoReCa, Raw Material Resources), "Press Center" (News, Media About Us, Gallery), "Careers" (Vacancies and Internships, Tenders) and "Contacts." In the upper right corner stood the RU/EN switch and the only contact brought to the first screen — the federal number 8 800 250 00 07[1].

Next came a tile of figures: more than 4,000 employees, an annual production volume of more than 600 thousand tonnes (2014 data), 276 thousand tonnes of sunflower oil and meal, 26 thousand tonnes of toilet and household soap, more than 30 new products a year, and three first places in the Russian market — for packaged margarines, sauces and packaged spreads[1]. The bottom third held a carousel of awards, where, alongside federal prizes ("Product of the Year," "Brand No. 1 in Russia," gold medals of the "Golden Autumn — 2015" exhibition), stood two municipal ones: the Nizhny Novgorod Industry Prize for developing liquid-margarine production technology, and the "Nizhny Novgorod Phoenix" prize in the "Goodwill Company" category, awarded by the Nizhny Novgorod Volunteer Service[1]. The same carousel also listed the plant's trademarks — Ryaba mayonnaise, Astoria sauces, Kremlyovskoye spread, Khozyayushka margarine, Sdobri mayonnaise, Stepanovna sunflower seeds, Delicato coconut oil[1].

How the site changed: 2021 and 2024

By April 2021 the page title had changed to "production of food products, food ingredients, soap": the "Cosmetic Products" section was renamed simply "Soap," "Food Ingredients" became "Industrial Margarines, Fats and Food Ingredients," and HoReCa turned into "FoodService / HoReCa"[2]. A map appeared on the home page with an "All / Plants / Branches / Oil Extraction Plants / Elevators" switch, and the "Careers" section gained subsections "I Choose NMZhK," "Life at NMZhK" and "Success Stories"[2]. The headcount figure in the number tile dropped from "more than 4,000" to "more than 3,500" employees[2]. At that point the news feed was dominated not by food production but by agronomy: on 22 March 2021, the first webinar of the "School of Agronomists"; on 19 March, a joint seminar with BASF in the settlement of Iskra in the Buzuluksky district of Orenburg Oblast, attended by 40 agricultural producers[2]. The footer carried the developer's credit — the studio Redsoft[2].

The Regulation on Personal Data Processing, updated on 16 November 2018, listed the company's websites: www.nmgk.ru, www.ryaba.ru, степановна.рф (stepanovna.rf) and www.astoria.online; in the version still current in 2024, the brand "MARGO" had been added to the list[3]. The same document gives the operator's registration details — JSC NMZhK, OGRN 1025202391830, INN 5257003806[2].

The snapshot from 14 November 2024 shows almost the same page with a "© 2024" copyright notice, but "Gallery" had disappeared from the menu, and the news feed had stopped almost a year before the snapshot was taken: the last entries are dated 29 November 2023 (the "Product of the Year — 2023" award: a tenth win for Astoria sauces, a twelfth for Kremlyovskoye spread and Khozyayushka margarine) and 27 November 2023 (JSC Trading House NMZhK launching exchange trading on the National Commodity Exchange from 1 January 2024)[3].

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The site was listed in the nn.ru directory under two sections at once — "Firms (Enterprises): Industry: Food Industry" and "Firms (Enterprises): Consumer Goods, Stores: Production." In the surviving samples of the Counter.nn.ru counter, its rating values are 310 and 337, with an average of 339 across our sample: on this measure nmgk.ru ranks among the top hundred of the 1,400 addresses collected in the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating — notable traffic for a factory site that sold nothing at retail.

That traffic, however, did not translate into participation in the local network's public life: the surviving results table of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day vote for December 2004 contains neither the address nmgk.ru nor the plant's name[4].

Fate of the address

The last home-page snapshot in the web archive is dated 23 March 2025. The domain nmgk.ru responds with a redirect (HTTP 301) to the "Fats-and-Oils Business" section of the Rusagro group's website, to which both forms of the name lead — with and without www[5]. When checked in August 2026, the site at that address was responding. An address known from web-archive snapshots spanning May 2001 to March 2025 — from the "official server of an AOOT" in an early-2000s directory to a corporate portal with a map of plants and elevators — now leads, via a redirect, to someone else's domain.
