zasada.by.ru was the website of the Nizhny Novgorod paintball club "Zasada" ("Ambush"), hosted in the free hosting zone of By.ru[1]. The club was registered in the nn.ru directory (the /rub/ section) under the name "Nizhny Novgorod paintball club \"Zasada\"" with the description "Official website of the paintball club \"Zasada\". Playing fields. Reports from the battlefields"[1]. The club's contact email address was registered in the nnov.ru zone — zasada@mail.nnov.ru[1]. The earliest snapshot preserved in the web archive is dated April 11, 2003[1].
Site structure and the club's offering
The home page combined the sections "News", "Rules", "Game scenarios", "Equipment", as well as a "Playing fields" subsection with two specific sites — "ANGAR-Z" and "ZASADA-1 (ISLAND)"[1]. Separate menu items covered practical services for players: "Booking a game", "Price list" and "Order procedure", as well as an archival section "Battle archive"[1]. Besides its core content, the site also ran an "Auto forum" and a section for the "Unreal" gaming portal, along with the pages "About the club", "Contacts", "Club history", "Reviews" and "Our partners"[1]. As of April 2003, the home page carried a greeting for March 8, an announcement about the opening of a "new site in the city center" from February 1, and a quote from Nietzsche[1], as the home page reported.
Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet
In the Counter.nn.ru sample and the nn.ru directory, the site is recorded with a rating figure of 34.0[1]; no votes for the club are recorded in our data[1].
How it closed
The last recorded edit of the site, according to the By.ru hosting's automatic archiving system, took place on June 8, 2004[2]. Already in the snapshot from February 6, 2005, instead of the club's home page a service page of the hosting opened, "Document moved. — BY.RU", reporting that the site "had not been updated for too long, was deemed outdated, and moved to the archive"[2]. The same hosting service page was still preserved in a later snapshot from October 19, 2005, where the counter of days since the last update had grown to 497[3]. The last known snapshot in the web archive is dated October 19, 2005; on a later check of the domain, a notice appeared reading "This domain may be for sale".
