nnrf.nm.ru was the website of the "Nizhny Novgorod Research Foundation" (NNRF), a public organization of Nizhny Novgorod humanities scholars, listed in the nn.ru directory (section "/rub/")[1]. Judging by the copyright notice on the preserved snapshot, the page had existed since at least 1999; the last snapshot of the domain in the web archive is dated early 2008[2].

Who was behind the site

The home page presented the Foundation as follows: "The Nizhny Novgorod Research Foundation (NNRF) is a public organization founded by a group of Nizhny Novgorod humanities scholars in December 1992. The Foundation currently has more than 30 members — political scientists, economists, sociologists, culturologists, historians, legal scholars, and philosophers of Nizhny Novgorod," as the home page stated[1]. The site had an English version — an "English version" link was placed right under the heading[1]. At the bottom of the page was a copyright notice reading "Copyright (C) 1999-2001, NNRF" and a credit to the webmaster, identified as WebmasterSF[1]. No additional sections, addresses, phone numbers, or contact forms are recorded on the preserved snapshot — the page consisted of a single text block describing the organization.

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The site was listed in the Nizhny Novgorod Internet directory nn.ru, in the "/rub/" section[1]. No data on ranking or traffic via Counter.nn.ru has survived in the census materials: no votes for the site were recorded in our samples of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day voting, and it does not appear in the surviving counter samples — which means an absence of data in the sample, not a confirmed zero (for more, see the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating).

How the site closed

According to the data recorded in the census, in 2005 the domain in the web archive redirected to the IP address 212.48.140.154 (no snapshot for that year has been preserved in the census). By early 2008, the content at nnrf.nm.ru no longer had anything to do with the Nizhny Novgorod Research Foundation: the preserved snapshot shows a registration page for a third-party dating service — with a login form, password, and a choice of gender, orientation, and country — with no mention whatsoever of the Foundation or of Nizhny Novgorod[2]. As of the compilation of this census, the domain no longer exists.
