About Us
| Psychoanalysis is a treatment method in which a specially structured conversation with an analyst is used to improve the patient's condition. Each session lasts 45–50 minutes, with a frequency ranging from 1 to 4–5 sessions per week depending on the patient's needs. Sessions may take place face to face, or the patient may lie on a couch while the analyst sits in a chair at the patient's head. The analyst invites the patient to speak about whatever comes to mind, without concern for phrasing or precision of expression.
A psychoanalyst does not prescribe medication and does not give advice on how the patient should manage their life or solve their problems. The analyst's task is to help the patient understand the causes of their difficulties, why they are unable to resolve them, and what unconscious conflicts prevent them from independently changing their life in the desired direction. The analyst's primary function is attentive listening, asking clarifying questions, drawing attention to certain patterns in the patient's statements and behavior, offering hypotheses about the causes of what the patient is experiencing, and establishing connections between conscious and unconscious contents of the psyche, and between the present and the past. |
