nztm.hotbox.ru was the calling-card website of OAO "Nizhny Novgorod Precision Machinery Plant" (Nizhegorodsky zavod tochnogo mashinostroeniya), a Nizhny Novgorod enterprise at 2 Nartova Street that manufactured rehabilitation equipment for people with disabilities. The site was listed in the nn.ru directory (the "/rub/" section)[2], and the page preserved in the web archive is dated August 2002[1].

What the site offered

The home page opened with text about the situation of people with disabilities in the world and the plant's mission — "providing Nizhny Novgorod residents with disabilities with quality, affordable rehabilitation equipment of its own manufacture"[1]. As the home page stated, the plant called itself "the only manufacturer of rehabilitation equipment for people with disabilities (wheelchairs) in the Nizhny Novgorod region" and noted that the enterprise had grown out of the pilot-production plant attached to NIITOP[1][3]. A quote from general director Evgeny Elyushkin was given: "Our main advantages are low price combined with high quality, and a focus on the specific consumer"[1].

The directory entry described the plant's output more broadly: development and custom manufacture of metal products, metalworking, as well as the development and production of certified rehabilitation equipment for people with disabilities, including wheelchairs[2]. The site listed the phone number (8312) 65-88-02, fax (8312) 65-70-81, the address 603950, Nizhny Novgorod, 2 Nartova St., and the email nztm@mail.nnov.ru; the menu contained the sections "Home," "Products," and "Price list"[1]. At the bottom of the page was the date of the last update — "June 12, 2002"[1].

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The site was listed in the nn.ru directory under the "/rub/" section[2]. Our records contain no information on ratings or votes for nztm.hotbox.ru[2]. Based on the available data, it is not possible to judge the site's broader place in the Nizhny Novgorod Internet of the early 2000s.

How it closed

The first and only surviving snapshot of the home page is dated August 20, 2002; the directory entry records the site as still appearing at the end of September of that same year, 2002[2]. The domain subsequently ceased to exist: according to the web archive, in 2005 the address redirected to pochta.ru[2], and by the time of the survey the site no longer had its own domain[2]. The enterprise itself outlived its first website: its current official site нзтм.рф states that JSC "Nizhny Novgorod Precision Machinery Plant" was formed in 1994 on the basis of the pilot plant attached to the Research Institute of Production Technology and Organization (NIITOP), founded in 1967, and that the plant's main lines of business today are the manufacture of patient transfer and transport equipment for emergency medical services, diagnostic equipment for Russian Railways (RZD), and metalworking[3].
