fashioncenter.ru — a domain name under which, in the early 2000s, the website of the Nizhny Novgorod Center of Fashion operated, and later — an online store of furs and outerwear unrelated to Nizhny Novgorod. The first preserved web archive snapshot is dated April 2001, and its pages carried a 2000 copyright notice[1]; the last available snapshot dates to June 2023, but its text is not readable in the archive — only an unreadable binary sequence has been preserved[3]. The site was listed in the nn.ru directory, under the "/rub/" section[1].
What the Nizhny Novgorod Center of Fashion website looked like
The home page of the 2001 snapshot was titled "News — Nizhny Novgorod Center of Fashion — fashionable clothing, accessories"[1]. According to the home page, the Center was engaged in "promoting Russian trademarks," "retail and wholesale sale of fashionable clothing and accessories," as well as fashion shows and runway events[1]. The news feed mentioned the regional stage of the young designers' competition "New Russia — Age of Revival" in Nizhny Novgorod on March 16, established by the "Russian Silhouette" foundation[1]. Among the new arrivals, the site listed knitwear by Nizhny Novgorod designer Irina Shirokova, as well as clothing by the brands "Gee-eks" (Saint Petersburg), "Bugalyuks," "Shveiprom," "Inter Grand," "Vinsant," "Lollipop," "Helmidge," "Festival," "Komfoteks," and "Felibella" (Moscow), wigs by the "Revlon" brand, and knitwear by the "DEF" brand (Dzerzhinsk)[1]. According to the description in the nn.ru directory, the site also published branch addresses and contact information for the Center of Fashion[1] — the addresses and phone numbers themselves do not appear in the preserved snapshot texts.
Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet
The site was listed in the Nizhny Novgorod Internet directory nn.ru, under the "/rub/" section[1]. There is no data in the preserved sample on its standing in the Counter.nn.ru rating or on votes during the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day (for more on the data-collection methodology, see the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating)[1].
Same address — a different store
By March 2022, fashioncenter.ru hosted a different site altogether, unrelated to the Nizhny Novgorod Center of Fashion: the "Wonderland" online store of furs and outerwear, selling fur coats, coats, down jackets, and parkas by the Italian brands Adriano Baroni, Antonio Didone, Braschi, Golden Furs, and others[2]. The contact information on this version of the site listed the address via Gregorio Castaldio 5, 47899 Localita Serravalle, San Marino, phone +39 (347) 521 77 60, and email wonderlandtatiana@gmail.com[2]; the page footer carried the notice "Copyright © 2016-2022 by Wonderland SRL"[2]. No mentions of Nizhny Novgorod appear on this version of the site in the material.
How it closed
The June 2023 snapshot of fashioncenter.ru is not readable — instead of page text, an unreadable binary sequence has been preserved in the archive[3], and the title and description of this version were not preserved in the archive (empty fields). The message "Domain registration for fashioncenter.ru has expired" refers to the domain's current status and is not dated to this snapshot. There is no data in the material on where the domain subsequently moved.
