The domain nncee.org belonged, from 2003 to 2011, to the website of the Nizhny Novgorod Center for Economic Education (NNCEE) — a regional public foundation for the promotion of economic education, established on 19 September 2002 and, from 18 November 2002, serving as the regional center of the International Center for Economic and Business Education (ICEBE) in Nizhny Novgorod[1]. The site was listed in the nn.ru directory (the "/rub/" section), meaning it was part of the Nizhny Novgorod segment of the Russian internet in the first half of the 2000s[1].
What the site looked like and what it offered
An early snapshot from 2003 opened with the headline "NNCEE — Nizhny Novgorod Center for Economic Education" and briefly set out the foundation's mission: "promoting the formation of an economic mindset, promoting the dissemination of economic knowledge, promoting a higher level of economic education, promoting the development of the economic education system"[1]. The home page announced the project "Gifted Children — the Future of Russia," with participant registration from 20 November to 20 December 2003, a seminar for economics teachers of the Sormovsky District on methods for solving olympiad problems (18 November 2003), and a visit to Nizhny Novgorod by a delegation of the U.S. National Council on Economic Education, expected in December 2003[1]. As the home page reported, the center "took part in the Russian Forum 2003" in Nizhny Novgorod, which drew more than 3,000 participants from all federal districts, and the project "Gifted Children — the Future of Russia" won the Fair of Social and Cultural Projects of the Volga Federal District, "Nizhny Novgorod 2003"[1]. Also mentioned was a new section, "FUNK-ECONOMICS," whose launch was announced for 3 September 2004, and a second-level summer seminar under the "Modern Economics ICEBE" program for economics teachers in June 2003[1].
Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet
According to Counter.nn.ru, the surviving counter-sample data credit the site with a rating value of 17.0[1]; no votes for NNCEE within the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day 2004 are recorded in our data — this means an absence from the sample, not a zero result for the site. The detailed methodology for counting such indicators is described in the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating. Its presence in the nn.ru directory and its status as the regional representation of ICEBE make nncee.org part of the educational segment of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet of the early 2000s.
How the site closed
The last recorded snapshot of the home page is dated 1 September 2011, and by that point the domain's content no longer had anything to do with economic education: the home page was titled simply "Home," carried the tagline "Changing the world, one site at a time…," and published a technical text on dressing grinding wheels and diamond-tool consumption in manufacturing — material plainly unrelated to the site's original subject[2]. Judging by this gap between the leftover title "Home" and the original content, the domain had apparently passed to a different owner by 2011. At the time this survey was compiled, the domain nncee.org was not registered[2].
