company.nn.ru was the corporate website of the "Internet Company НН.РУ" (LLC "НН.РУ"), a Nizhny Novgorod firm that sold hosting, web development and promotion, registered domains, and ran the city portal www.nn.ru. In 2007 the footer of the home page listed the address "603005, N. Novgorod, Piskunova 30, office 50," technical support phone numbers (831) 257-78-88 and 257-78-25, an office line 419-77-99, and the email info2007@nn.ru[1]. The first web-archive snapshot of the domain is dated December 13, 2007, and the last one January 19, 2019[1][5]; today the domain no longer works.
The 2007 service showcase
The early version of the site was called "Internet Company НН.РУ — Hosting, Website Promotion in Nizhny Novgorod" and was built as a showcase: the menu listed the sections "About the НН.РУ firm," "Website Creation," "Site DNK Technology," "Internet Advertising," "Website Promotion," "Domain Registration," "Hosting," "Our Vacancies," and "Technical Support"[1]. At the center of the page was a form for checking available domain names with a choice of zone —.nn.ru,.nnov.ru,.com,.ru,.biz,.info; next to it stood a feedback form where the visitor marked what they wanted: to order a website, learn more about SiteDNK, order hosting, register a domain — or, as the last item on the list, "just say hello :)"[1].
As the home page put it, the company offered "the best hosting for Nizhny Novgorod firms," and the "personal internet manager" service meant that an НН.РУ employee carried out the client's website tasks "by phone, email, or ICQ" and at the end of the month brought the client a "Report on work done"[1]. Also posted there was a web programmer vacancy: "knowledge of PHP 4/5, MySQL 4/5, HTML, JavaScript," the ability to work with someone else's source code, and punctuality[1].
The company's own product was called Site DNK; the site advertised version 3.0 and carried the footer signature "Technology by Site DNK. v 3.0"[1]. As the home page put it, the technology summed up "the experience of solving our clients' real problems" and promised "savings on updates, savings on staff, savings on the costs of site development"[1]. Later it appeared in the menu as a separate item, "SiteDNK content management system"[2][3], and in 2019 the footer featured "1minute-site (beta version)" with the call "Want one like this? Click here!"[5].
A page inside the portal
By 2014 the standalone showcase had disappeared: company.nn.ru became a section of the portal itself, sharing its common menu — "Hosting," "internet advertising," "DOMAINS," "About the Company," "Group Buying," "Audience," "Contest," "DNI" (see Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day), "Vacancies," "News of Nizhny Novgorod"[2]. For years an unfilled template line from the engine hung above the content: "Optional section description. If you are the site owner, log in to edit this text!" — it was still there in both 2016 and 2019[4][5].
The section's feed turned into an internal chronicle of the company. An entry from February 28, 2013 described a meeting of staff with forum moderators at the restaurant "Tinkoff," at which a change of director at LLC "НН.РУ" was announced: the post, held for more than ten years by Mikhail Iosilevich, would pass on March 3, 2013 to his deputy Anton Ivanov, with project manager Anton Kazenyuk and editor-in-chief Elena Khromova set to assist the new director[2]. In the speech quoted there, Iosilevich said the company had been founded by him and Ilya Osipov in 1999 and started with two computers, one employee, and one room; the page reported that about 120 moderators from various forums attended the meeting[2].
Neighboring entries show what else the editorial team covered: on February 6, 2013 a new classifieds section was announced, on April 26 a report from the "Golden Podium 2013" fashion festival, and on May 6 a report on the May Day gathering of forum members on the slope of Shveytsariya Park[2]. The view counter shows how slowly this page was read: the note from September 10, 2012 showed "visitors: 636" in February 2014, 1071 in February 2015, "viewed by 1712" in October 2016, and 2403 in January 2019[2][3][4][5].
A place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet
The company's site called its audience that of the portal. In 2007 the home page reported that www.nn.ru was "the most visited Nizhny Novgorod internet portal," with a monthly audience of 500,000 unique visitors and sections for "city, business, socializing, leisure, event listings, and more"[1]. The 2013 speech cited 120,000 people a day, more than 500,000 residents of Nizhny Novgorod, and more than a million people a month[2], and by 2019 the note at the bottom of the page read "more than 3,000,000 unique visitors" a month[5]. The corporate section held no place of its own in the Counter.nn.ru rating: in the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating it appears only via a link from the nn.ru home page in 2011 — as the official face of the firm standing at the center of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet.
How it closed
In the last snapshot, from January 19, 2019, the page is titled "About the Internet Company НН.РУ," a "Version for the visually impaired" appeared in the header, and "Vacancies," "Contest," and "News of Nizhny Novgorod" had disappeared from the menu[5]. The contact details had changed by then: "Nizhny Novgorod, Maxim Gorky St., building 226 B. First floor," phone (831) 419-77-99[5]. The list of recent headlines still showed fragments of the last announcements — "Attention! From June 1, 2018...," "Our company's office...," — and at the bottom stood the signature "2019 Internet Company НН.РУ"[5]. The web archive holds no later snapshots, and the domain company.nn.ru no longer responds.
