tekiller.virtualave.net is the domain of a Nizhny Novgorod amateur travel website, known in the nn.ru directory under the name "NN-voyage." The nn.ru directory described it as: "Long and not-so-long trips of a small number of Nizhny Novgorod residents. The 'Koikiy' team." The site itself, however, called itself something else on its front page — "Tequila," and presented its author as "Tequila & Co." The earliest surviving web archive snapshot is dated December 3, 2001[1], and the latest one covered in this article is dated January 2, 2004[2].

What the site looked like and what it offered

The front page was short and stayed unchanged throughout the years it was captured: the title "Tequila," a link "photos of Tequila & Co," a link "travel impressions by Tequila & Co," and a twice-repeated line "webboard for your impressions" — apparently leading to a forum for visitor feedback. Below it was a note "under construction": the section was never brought to a finished state, either by 2001 or by 2004[1][2].

In the 2001 snapshot the page also shows a line "Discount Travel" — the only hint of a commercial or tourism service rather than just photo reports[1]. By the 2004 snapshot this line was no longer present[2]. A distinctive feature of the earlier snapshot specifically is that the web archive captured, along with the page, the raw code of a Counter.nn.ru written in ASP/VBScript: the script kept a text file with the number of visits per day and a line-by-line visit log with the visitor's IP address, referrer, and user agent[1].
