This abbreviation has several meanings:

• NKVD — Nizhny Novgorod Skin and Venereal Disease Clinic, located on Rozhdestvenskaya Street Street.

• NKVD — Nizhny Novgorod Off-Road Driving Club. The name was proposed by Drynich and won a naming contest for the local off-road vehicle club.

• NKVD — People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs. The Narkomat of the Soviet state, responsible for the functions of both the interior ministry and the secret police. Its colloquial name was the Competent Organs.
