Mikhail Vitalyevich Dikin is a Nizhny Novgorod businessman and politician who served as Deputy Chairman of the Regional Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Region. Throughout the 2000s–2020s, he was repeatedly named in criminal cases and court proceedings.[1][2]
Criminal Prosecution in the 2000s
In 2006, Mikhail Dikin was convicted of organizing an attempted murder of Oleg Sorokin — at the time the head of the Stolitsa Nizhniy (development company), who later became Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod. According to available information, the victim had been Dikin's business partner. Together with his brother Alexander, Dikin served a lengthy sentence in a penal colony and was released on parole in July 2016.[2][1]
In 2022, criminal fraud charges were filed against Mikhail Dikin and his brother Alexander.[1]
Road Incidents and Hooliganism
After his release, Dikin was repeatedly at the center of road-related scandals. While still serving as a deputy, he allegedly punched a driver several times for blocking his car near the entrance to the Regional Legislative Assembly.[1]
In October 2023, at Lyadov Square, Dikin cut off a Zhiguli and, during the ensuing argument, fired a gas pistol in the driver's face. In court he maintained he had acted in self-defense, but the jury found him guilty of hooliganism with use of a weapon.[2]
In the autumn of 2024, the former parliamentarian blocked a bus, claiming the driver was drunk. The incident occurred on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street.[4] The court imposed a fine on him.[2] In early March 2026, another incident took place: Dikin was overtaking a car, repeatedly cutting sharply in front of it, then stopped in the middle of the roadway and blocked traffic, claiming the other driver had failed to yield.[2]
The 2026 Verdict
On 10 November 2024, near the Nebo shopping center in Nizhny Novgorod, Dikin threatened a man with a gas pistol during a verbal altercation, struck him several times in the chest area, and made death threats. The defendant did not admit guilt. On 11 August 2026, Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court him to 280 hours of community service under the article on making death threats. The verdict was handed down on 7 August 2026 and had not yet entered into legal force at the time of pronouncement.[4][1][2][3]
The incident took place at the entrance to the parking lot from the Krupskaya Street side: a Volvo standing with its hazard lights on was in front of Dikin's turning Mercedes when its driver began moving at the same moment; the wives of both parties to the conflict filmed what happened on video.[4]
