kids.r52.ru was the site of a preparatory preschool institution attached to Physics-and-Mathematics Lyceum No. 40, which existed in the Nizhny Novgorod domain zone r52.ru. Judging by the archived snapshots, the site amounted to a single page with no internal links, entirely devoted to the kindergarten, which admitted children "gifted with abilities for physics and mathematics" and prepared them for admission to the lyceum[1]. Design and hosting were provided by the company R52.RU — at the bottom stood its signature, "R 52.RU Company, design and hosting"[1]. In the web archive the domain is first recorded on August 3, 2001; it entered our listing from the nn.ru catalogue, from the preschool education and preparation section.

What the site looked like

The site was arranged in the simplest possible way: a heading, "Lyceum No. 40 — Preparatory Preschool Institution," a subheading, "Kids' Garden," and one continuous block of text spanning several screens[1]. No menu, no sections, no photo gallery, no enrollment form survived in the snapshots; neither the address, nor the phone number, nor the names of administrators were given — from the page one could not even tell which district of the city the kindergarten was in. The only functional element was the developer's and host's signature at the very bottom[1].

The text was written not in bureaucratic style but in a newspaper-essay tone, addressing parents directly: it opens with a reflection that "almost all parents predict a genius for their child," and that a newborn child is "not a tabula rasa"[1]. The page ended with a direct appeal: as the home page put it, "If you dream of a brilliant future for your child, you will not find a better kindergarten"[1]. The two surviving snapshots — from September 18 and December 12, 2019 — match word for word[2].

What the kindergarten offered

Admission was selective: to identify giftedness, children underwent "a special interview based on L. A. Wenger's 'Gifted Children' tests"[1]. Starting in 2001, the page reported, groups of four-year-olds began to be formed; for them, as for six- and seven-year-olds, a two-year course of study was provided[1]. Preschool instruction followed the "Detstvo" ("Childhood") program and a special method for teaching mathematics, reading, and literacy, while the primary grades worked under the developmental programs of Zankov, Davydov, and Elkonin[1].

Daily activities were listed: drawing, construction, appliqué, modelling, speech development, life-safety basics, spatial orientation, logic, and cognitive reading[1]. The page was candid about scale: groups held 24 children each, and the workload for "a small and restless person" was called heavy[1]. The kindergarten was municipal, so group classes were free of charge; at parents' wish, a child could additionally attend rhythmics, speech therapy, and English[1]. Of the teachers it was said that almost all held higher pedagogical education and had passed qualification certification, and that one could stay on here only by truly loving children, "paying no attention to the small salary"[1]. The connection with the base lyceum was described through continuous curricula, mutual visits, and a summer children's health camp for the primary grades[1].

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The site belonged to a typical layer of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet of the early 2000s: a one-page "calling card" of a budget-funded institution, living not on its own domain but as a subdomain of whoever had designed it and given it hosting[1], and unchanged between the surviving snapshots[2]. Such a site required neither an editorial staff nor updates: a text written once stayed in place for as long as the hosting held.

kids.r52.ru never gained public weight. In the final results table of the 2004 Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day vote the domain does not appear, although other sites of the r52.ru zone — for instance, riann.r52.ru and dom.r52.ru — are there[4]. It is likewise absent from the surviving samples of the Counter.nn.ru rating; it entered our data only through the nn.ru catalogue, from which the list of sites for the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating was compiled. The snapshots preserved no visitor counters on the page itself.

How it closed

In total the web archive holds 57 captures of the domain. The readable snapshots of the home page date to 2019[1][2]; in the snapshot from June 5, 2022, the page text no longer survives in readable form[3]. The last snapshot in the web archive is dated October 4, 2022. Today the domain kids.r52.ru no longer exists, and of the kindergarten site attached to Lyceum No. 40 only these archived copies of a single page remain.
