The Lebedinskaya Estate is a historic 19th-century manor complex in the Upper Part, located at Minina Street. It consists of two structures: the main house (building A) and the annex (building B). Both are protected by the state as Architectural Monuments of Nizhny Novgorod.[1]

Composition and Dating

The main house (11 Minin Street, building A) was constructed in two building phases and is dated to the 1820s and 1880s. The main house was built in 1837–1838 for Olimpiada Ivanovna Lebedinskaya to the design of architect A. L. Leer, and is regarded as a monument of the urban-transformation era of the 1830s — a period marking the transition of Russian architecture from Classicism to Eclecticism.[2] The annex (11a Minin Street, building B) dates to the second half of the 19th century. It was converted from outbuildings in the second half of the 19th century; in the 1960s a second storey was added, borrowing Classicist architectural forms.[2] The name of the architect is not recorded for either structure in the heritage protection documents.[1]

Heritage Protection Status

Both structures are listed in the register of historical and cultural monuments under protection category "R" (regional significance). The acts of acceptance for protection are decisions No. 471 and No. 329.[1]

The estate stands immediately adjacent to other protected sites on Minin Street: the portico of the Institute of Water Transport Engineers (1935, architect A. F. Zhukov, 7 Minin Street) and the house of P. Ya. Ilyina (1847, architect A. E. Turmyshev, 21 Minin Street).[1]

The estate is registered in the register of cultural heritage sites of Russia under number 5231606000.[3]
