liberal.nm.ru was the website of the "Liberal" newsletter, published by the Kstovo branch of the "Union of Right Forces" party[1]. The site was listed in the nn.ru catalog under the "/rub/" section[1]. The first surviving snapshot dates to October 2001, the last to February 2005[1][2].

What the site offered

The surviving snapshot captures the fifth issue of the newsletter, dated September 2000, with a note that "publication of the newsletter will resume in September 2001"[1]. According to the home page, the issue featured an interview with Vadim Aliyev, chairman of the Kstovo branch of the Union of Right Forces, titled "Liberalization in Kstovo", an article "Looking Ahead" about the risks of economic crisis, a report from a Zemsky Sobraniye (local council) session on hot water and heating issues, as well as reprints from "Russkaya Mysl" ("Russian Thought"), the site utro.ru, and the "Nizhny Novgorod Telegraph Agency"[1]. The site offered an archive of previous issues (from the first to the fourth), a section called "Liberalism for Dummies", a frequently-asked-questions section, and a web forum[1]. The newsletter's editor was listed as Olga Yevdokimova, with a print run of 999 copies, free subscription, distribution by phone at (245) 3-97-48 and (245) 2-31-52, and contact email liberal@nm.ru[1].

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The census record lists the site in the nn.ru catalog, but no data on votes in the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day or on its position in the Counter.nn.ru rating has been recorded in the surviving samples[1]. This does not mean zero popularity — the counters and votes did not cover the entire Nizhny Novgorod Internet, and a party newsletter with a small print run could simply have been missed by the surviving data slices, examined in the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating.

How the site closed

The last snapshot in the web archive is dated February 11, 2005, and shows not the newsletter's home page but a service directory listing from the Apache web server — an "Index of /" with a single entry for the parent directory dated January 30, 2005[2]. By that point no substantive content remained on the site; the census record confirms that the domain liberal.nm.ru no longer exists[1].
