A settlement and railway platform in Sormovo District. Located in the northern part of the district. Formerly a village known since the 16th century, it was incorporated into the city of Sormovo in 1925. Named after the Mordva name Kapas.
The owner of the village was Kapas Khabalshchikov, who, as documented, was involved in a lawsuit in 1542 with Terentiy Shumenev, nicknamed Soroma, over the boundary stream of Khalezeva.
