nn.rdw.ru was a Nizhny Novgorod website of the "Rabota dlya vas" ("Job for You") newspaper, which collected employer vacancies and applicant resumes for Nizhny Novgorod and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. The recurring tagline on the home page read: "NN.RDW.ru job search in Nizhny Novgorod and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. Vacancies from the newspaper 'Job for You,' vacancies from direct employers and staffing agencies"[1]. In the nn.ru site directory, the resource was listed as the newspaper "Job for You — Nizhny Novgorod Edition" and described as follows: "vacancy listings from firms and enterprises of Nizhny Novgorod and other cities. Specialist resumes. Listings from educational institutions"[2]. The Wayback Machine has held snapshots of the home page since September 23, 2002, roughly eighty in total[3].

A labor exchange on the web: the site in 2012

The snapshot from September 23, 2012 was titled "'Job for You' — job search. Popular vacancies from the newspaper and from employers. Nizhny Novgorod." At the top were links for "Employers" and "Job Search Help," the main sections were called "Home," "Job for Me," "Vacancy Catalog," and "Create Resume," and the region switch was set to Nizhny Novgorod; the list of regions was short at the time — Russia, Moscow, Moscow Oblast, Nizhny Novgorod, Volgograd, Novosibirsk[1]. Registration was by email address or mobile phone — with the hint "only 10 digits of the mobile phone number are entered"[1].

The home page featured a list of twenty-three common professions — driver, administrator, sales assistant, loader, cleaner, cook, PC operator, inspector — and thematic selections: "For Young Specialists," "Work 40+," "For Students" (flexible schedule, no experience required), "Large Companies," and "Top Vacancies," meaning "vacancies with a salary from 50 thousand rubles"[1]. The "Vacancies of the Day" block preserved the salary levels of the Nizhny Novgorod market of that year: manager without sales — 15,000 rubles, process engineer — 16,000, silver jewelry sales assistant at the Ganza shopping center — 10,000, operator at Citylink — 13,000[1].

By April 2018 the site had been rebuilt: the headline became search-oriented — "Jobs in Nizhny Novgorod — a database of current vacancies" — and the region switcher grew into a full list of the country's federal subjects, from Adygea to Yaroslavl Oblast[4]. Its Nizhny Novgorod anchoring nonetheless remained firm: the search was filtered by the string "Nizhny Novgorod Oblast: Nizhny Novgorod," and vacancies specified city districts — Avtozavodsky, Leninsky, Nizhegorodsky, Sovetsky, Sormovsky[4]. About itself, the home page stated: "The site nn.rdw.ru was created by the newspaper 'Job for You' specifically for finding work or employees in Nizhny Novgorod. It is a modern equivalent of a labor exchange, bringing together interested job seekers and employers"[4].

In 2018 the "Vacancies of the Day" included a licensed security guard for 16,000 rubles, a truck driver for 42,000, a crane operator for 20,000, a confectioner for 30,000[4]. In the snapshot from March 14, 2022, the selection consisted almost entirely of low-budget positions: a janitor, a preschool teacher, and a music director at kindergarten No. 155 in the Leninsky district (14,000 and 16,000 rubles), a hotel cleaner at the AZIMUT in Nizhny Novgorod for 23,000, an industrial equipment repair fitter in the Avtozavodsky district for 35,000[5].

The footer listed the publisher's related projects — "RDV-media," "Elitny Personal," Rabota.ru, "The 'Job for You' Site," and "The 'Job for You' Newspaper" — along with service sections such as "Post a Vacancy" and "Unsubscribe from SMS"; next to them was a "16+" age notice[4].

Its place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

In the nn.ru directory's rubricator, the site was placed in the "Media: Newspapers and Magazines" section. In the list sorted by rating, the September 2003 snapshot shows it at 395 — sixth place in the section: ahead of it were "PRICER" (1319), a search engine for firms of N. Novgorod (1000), the newspaper "Pokrovka, 7" (635), and two more publications[2]. In our surviving samples of the counter.nn.ru Counter.nn.ru counter itself, the site does not appear — only in the directory's rubricator (more on the measurement mechanics — Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating).

In the final voting table marking the 2004 Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day, nn.rdw.ru does not appear: among job-related sites in the "Most Useful Site" category, only job-info.ru — "Jobs in Nizhny Novgorod" — is listed there, with a rating figure of 143[7]. For the Nizhny Novgorod Internet, this niche was typical: a print classifieds newspaper moved its database onto the web and held it for years as a city labor exchange.

How it closed

The last substantive snapshot of the home page in our sample is dated June 6, 2023. Neither the list of popular professions nor the "Vacancies of the Day" block remains on it — only a blog feed with entries up to June 1, 2023: a post about the newspaper launching on Telegram and Viber, announcements of the "HR Tech Forum & Award 2023" and the "Recruitment 2023" conference, a note about the newspaper's electronic edition[6]. There is no closure notice or farewell to readers in the snapshots.

The Wayback Machine continued taking snapshots of the address until January 2026[3], but a check made while compiling this survey found no working site at nn.rdw.ru: the domain does not respond, and no trace of the Nizhny Novgorod edition moving to another address was found in the available material.
