IslamNN (islamnn.ru, IslamNN.ru) is an information and analysis portal, "Islam in Nizhny Novgorod", and the official website of DUMNO).
Nature of the phenomenon
IslamNN brings Islamic traditionalism to the Nizhny Novgorod context and is intended to examine any contemporary issue from that perspective.
The header of every page on the site reads: "IIC Islam v Nizhnem Novgorode The Islam in Nizhniy Novgorod Islamic Information Channel".
The site consistently criticizes phenomena that hinder conversion to Islam or diminish its significance for Nizhny Novgorod residents.
History
"Islam in Nizhny Novgorod" was created in 2003 as an information website for DUMNO. In 2005 it was transformed into a multimedia Web portal covering the life of Nizhny Novgorod's Muslim community.
Content for the site is drawn from the newspaper Medina, whose editor is Damir-hazrat Mukhetdinov, as well as articles from the information and analysis center at the Council of Muslims of Russia (CMR) representative office in the Volga Federal District.
The site makes extensive use of Flash technology.

The site publishes articles from the Amal Analytics Center, complete electronic versions of all issues of the weekly nationwide Muslim newspaper Medina al-Islam, the quarterly scholarly almanac Islam in the Modern World, the Russian journal of Islamic doctrine Minaret, the annual popular-science journal Islam in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and other DUMNO publications.
The site informs the public about religious holidays and publishes sermons, news bulletins from Muslim community activists in Nizhny Novgorod, open letters, and news items.
