Blokhina Irina Nikolayevna (1921–1999) — Director of the Nizhny Novgorod Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Professor, Doctor, and Full Member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. She was elected as a deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR for several terms, a member of the Union of Women of Russia, and chairwoman of the city women's council. Chairwoman of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Russian Foundation "Human Health." Laureate of the USSR State Prize.
Achievements
Awarded the Orders of Lenin, the Red Banner of Labour, the October Revolution, and the Order of Honour, as well as various medals.
The title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Nizhny Novgorod" was conferred by resolution of the City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod dated 20 June 1996, No. 26.
