Tax debt information has been available online via the The Internet since July 2009. The service is available to individuals only.

Taxes are funds compulsorily collected by the state or local authorities from individuals and legal entities for the purpose of carrying out governmental functions.

How to Check Tax Debt Online

  • The website of the UFNS for Nizhny Novgorod Region allows you to check whether you have any outstanding debt on property, transport, and land taxes. If a debt is found, you can print a payment order. To check your tax debt, simply enter your TIN (taxpayer identification number).
  • If there is no tax debt, the system displays a corresponding message. If a debt exists, the screen shows information about the outstanding amount as of the settlement date, including the following details: tax name, payment type, name of the tax authority, and amount owed.
  • You can check your debt on property, transport, and land taxes, as well as personal income tax (for individuals who are Russian citizens only), on the official UFNS Russia website. To check your tax debt, you will need to enter your TIN and full name.

The "Check Your Debt!" service is also available at the operations hall of the tax inspectorate, where a dedicated workstation has been set up.

Generated payment documents do not have an identification number or barcode, but are accepted at Sberbank branches that process tax payments.

Types of Taxes

Taxes are divided into direct taxes, which are levied directly on a taxpayer's income and property, and indirect taxes, which are built into the prices of goods and services.

Direct taxes include personal income tax, profit tax, property tax, and so on. Indirect taxes include value-added tax, sales tax, and so on.

How to Pay Off a Debt

If you have a tax debt, you must contact the district bailiff service office at your place of registration, where a bailiff-executor will provide all information regarding the enforcement proceedings in which you are named as a debtor and will inform you of the exact amount due.

The debt can be paid on the spot or at payment terminals in Sberbank branches, through terminals of the "OPLATA.RU" and "QIWI" systems.
