home-nn.narod.ru was a Nizhny Novgorod website called "Home-nn — My Home Nizhny Novgorod," running on the free Narod.Ru hosting service[1]. The site was listed in the directory of Nizhny Novgorod websites nn.ru (the /rub/ section), where it was described as "chat, forum, map of Nizhny Novgorod, essays, books"[1]. The last recorded snapshot of the home page in the web archive is dated 26 January 2005[3].
What the site offered
An early version of the page (a snapshot from 16 May 2001) presented the project as a work in progress: "the site is not fully ready yet, but some things already work. New information appears on it every day," the home page reported, inviting visitors to submit material for posting[1]. The menu listed sections "Essays," "Books," "Software," "Scripts," "Fonts," and "Jokes," as well as a "Guestbook," "Chat," and "Forum" — a standard set for a personal homepage of the early 2000s[1]. There was also a search form "across home-nn.narod.ru, Narod.Ru, Yandex," a line reading "Advertise on this site," and a "Friendly sites" section[1].
Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet
Among the "friendly sites" listed on the home page were a directory of Nizhny Novgorod websites, a map of Nizhny Novgorod, the company "Stil'," the NN.RU portal, and the Yandex search engine[1]. According to census-card data, in the surviving samples of the Counter.nn.ru counter the site's rating is recorded at the 15.0 level, and no votes for it were recorded in our data[3]. No participation in Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day is recorded in the material.
How it closed
By the snapshot from 27 November 2002, the content of the home page had already changed to a short notice: "Sorry for the inconvenience. Our site is now located at: http://runetik.narod.ru," the home page reported, while the previous section menu and links to friendly sites remained in place[2]. The same wording about the move to runetik.narod.ru was still present in the snapshot from 26 January 2005 — the last one recorded in the web archive for this domain[3]. The further fate of the page at runetik.narod.ru is not reflected in the material.
