egs.r52.ru was the website of the Nizhny Novgorod construction and finishing firm OOO "Euro-Grad-Stroy" ("Euro-City-Build"), hosted on a third-level domain in the r52.ru zone in the early 2000s. The home page gave the firm's address as "603016 Nizhny Novgorod, Yu. Fuchika St., 130a," a phone/fax number of 54-91-80, and an email address of egs@r52.ru[1]. The company, as the home page stated, had operated "since 1995," and under the name "Euro-Grad-Stroy" since 1997[1]. The surviving snapshots of the site date from 2001-2003.
One page, unchanged for two years
The web archive holds snapshots of the home page from August 3, 2001[1] and from February 10, 2003[2]. The text in them matches word for word, from the list of services to the contact details: over the year and a half between the two snapshots the page was never edited. Even a seasonal appeal, apparently posted for summer, survived unchanged through February: "Summer is here! While you're away on holiday, we'll transform your home!"[2]
The page was not built for regular updating: the saved text contains no news section, no catalog of completed work, and no feedback form. Contact with the firm was offered by phone, fax, email, and pager — "pager 30-30-30, subscriber 20418"[1]. At the bottom of the page were two service lines typical of sites of that era: "Hosting by R52.RU" and "Coding by Info-Online"[1] — meaning the hosting was provided by a Nizhny Novgorod ISP while the layout was done by an outside contractor.
An intent to draw search traffic is visible in a service list of keywords embedded in the page code: "N.Novgorod, Nizhny, Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, NN, N.Novgorod, Novgorod, Nizhegorodskaya oblast" followed by industry terms — repair, cottage, construction, turnkey, finishing, euro-renovation, apartment, office, redevelopment, metal structures[1]. The city's name was spelled out in every variant, including Latin transliteration.
What the firm offered
The range of work was described tersely, in a telegraphic style: "Euro-finishing, complex 2- and 3-level ceilings, redevelopment, computer design," with the objects named as "Cottages, offices, residential premises"[1] (spelling as in the original). Also mentioned separately were metal-structure specialists and work "with each client on individual sketches," with finishing materials chosen "to suit the client's wishes and means"[1].
The only completed project named on the site was "finishing and construction work at the traffic police station in Bor"[1]; the saved text contains neither addresses of other projects nor photographs. The page's promotional content consisted of short slogans: "All the client's wishes are law for us!", "We've developed a new type of 2-level ceiling! You'll be the only one to have it!" and "No need to look for us, just call and we'll come!"[2]. The site never received a later, more detailed description of its services.
Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet
egs.r52.ru belongs to the most numerous category of sites from the early Nizhny Novgorod Internet — business-card pages of small city firms that set up a page with their provider and listed themselves in a local directory. The site entered our sample precisely from the nn.ru directory's listings, where it appeared with the description "Repair, finishing, construction of cottages, offices, apartments."
The site did not gain a notable place in local rankings. It does not appear in the surviving samples of the Counter.nn.ru counter, and we have no data on its traffic — for more on how this sample was compiled, see the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating. The site also does not appear in the final results table of the 2004 Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day vote[3] — though by that point, judging by the snapshots, it had already stopped being updated.
How it closed
The last web-archive snapshot of the home page is dated February 10, 2003[2]. No later versions of the page have survived; the egs.r52.ru address did not exist at the time of our check, and no successor — neither a new domain nor a placeholder redirect page — could be found. What became of the firm itself after 2003 cannot be judged from the available materials: the site fell silent before it could report on that.
