dwg.r52.ru was the website of Nizhny Novgorod-based CJSC "DvigatelMontazh" (DvigatelMontazh, i.e. "Engine Assembly"), a company engaged in the installation, repair and sale of compressor equipment. The contact details on the home page in 2011 listed "603001, Russia, Nizhny Novgorod, Chernigovskaya St. 15," phone numbers (831) 430-51-30 and 430-51-81, fax (831) 277-85-00, and the e-mail dwg@r52.ru[2]. The earliest surviving snapshot of the home page is dated June 10, 2002[1], and the last snapshot whose text could be made out dates to April 1, 2022[4].

The company as it described itself

The first surviving version of the home page was an almost empty splash screen: the page text contained only "CJSC Dvigatelmontazh," while the service keywords listed everything the site had been set up for: "compressor, compressors, dryers, filters, Gardner Denver, Gasrdner Denver, repair, commissioning, maintenance, screw, Dvigatelmontazh, piston, refrigerator, ilkom"[1] — with a typo in the Latin spelling of the manufacturer's name.

Later the home page turned into an extended account of the firm, and this text survived unchanged through to the last snapshots that could be parsed. According to the home page, the organization "began its history in the 1960s, back in the Soviet era," was then called "Gorky Section 2 of the 2nd Moscow Installation Directorate of the 'Dvigatelmontazh' Trust," and belonged to the system of the USSR Ministry for the Installation and Special Construction Works (Minmontazhspetsstroy)[2]. Among the projects listed for those years were the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the installation and commissioning of equipment for the press and compressor shops of the Gorky Automobile Plant, a business trip by several employees to France to install press equipment, Japanese AIDA presses in Uzbekistan, and GTN-25 gas-pumping units on the Urengoy–Pomary–Uzhgorod gas pipeline (the village of Pochinki, Gorky Region)[2]. A separate line in the text read "GTN-25 INSTALLATION, 1983"[2].

After the collapse of the USSR, the page said, the organization continued to operate "as an independent economic entity": first as the Nizhny Novgorod Branch limited partnership "Dvigatelmontazh" (1992), then as CJSC "Dvigatelmontazh" (1997)[2]. Among the post-Soviet projects listed on the page were the GTN-25 turbine on the same gas pipeline (the village of Pochinki, Nizhny Novgorod Region), compressors in the reforming shop at OJSC "Norsi" in Kstovo, and the replacement of K-250 turbocompressors with K-250-61-5 units at the Gearbox Plant of OJSC GAZ and at OJSC "Volga" (the Balakhna Pulp and Paper Mill)[2]. From 2001 the firm took up the sale of compressors, compressed-air purification systems, chillers and nitrogen generators, representing "Arsenal," the Bezhetsk ASO Plant, Blitz, Domnick Hunter, Gardner Denver and Hiross, and from 2004 also vibration diagnostics and dynamic balancing[2].

How the site was structured

The page opened with the name 'CJSC "DvigatelMontazh"' and three service links — "home," "send a letter," "site map." Next came the "Products" menu, in 2011 the most detailed of the surviving versions: blowers, adsorption nitrogen generators, membrane nitrogen generators, oxygen generators, chillers, electric piston compressors, electric screw compressors, dryers and filters, receivers, "Compressor repair, service, spare parts," pump repair, vibration diagnostics and balancing. Below that were the sections "About us," "News," "Useful information," "Ask a question," and "Contacts," and just before the contacts stood a banner line reading "equipment market — a magazine for those looking for equipment"[2]. Feedback was handled by the "Contacts" section and a "question-and-answer service," to which the page directed the reader[2].

By 2021 the catalog had noticeably shrunk: screw compressors, dryers and filters, and receivers disappeared from the menu, and the remaining items were merged into seven lines — nitrogen generators (adsorption and membrane), oxygen generators (adsorption), liquid coolers (chillers), electric piston compressors, "Compressor and pump repair," vibration diagnostics and balancing, and blowers. The contact details changed too: only one phone number remained, (831) 430-51-30, and a phone/fax number, (831) 280-81-51, appeared in place of the former fax; the address on Chernigovskaya Street and the e-mail dwg@r52.ru did not change[3]. No visitor counters are visible in the surviving text snapshots of the home page.

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

Other Nizhny Novgorod sites also carried third-level domains in the r52.ru zone: dom.r52.ru and riann.r52.ru appear in the results table of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day vote for 2004, while dwg.r52.ru itself is not in that table[5]. It made its way into our census of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet through the nn.ru directory's category listing rather than through a rating: it does not appear in the surviving samples of the Counter.nn.ru counter that underlie the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating, and no rank for it was recorded in our data. In the directory listing itself the firm is described as a seller of air compressors and an official distributor of Gardner Denver, also engaged in compressor repair, and the installation and commissioning of all types of refrigeration equipment and pipeline installation; the rating column of the listing reads "none."

How it closed

The account of the company went unrevised for more than ten years: the April 1, 2022 snapshot repeats the 2011 text word for word, with only the catalog contents and phone numbers changing[4]. The last snapshot of the site in the web archive is dated October 7, 2022; at the time this entry was compiled, the domain dwg.r52.ru was not responding.
