dorogavetrov.narod.ru was the website of "Doroga Vetrov" ("Road of Winds"), a search-and-historical-literary youth association based in the Sarov[1]. According to the description in the nn.ru directory, the site published "accounts of hikes and expeditions, our creative work, favorite songs, and much more"[1]. The site was listed in the nn.ru directory's "/rub/" section[1]; the earliest known snapshot of its home page is dated 20 January 2002[1], and the latest is dated 27 August 2007[2].

What the site looked like and what it offered

The home page rested on a simple menu: "Forum," "Tourism," "Songs," "Creative Work," and, inside the "About Us" section, the subsections "News," "Members," "Charter"[1]. The association's news section worked as a feed of short entries: on 25 August 2002 the site reported the end of the summer hiking season and promised reports on three events — a Category 1 difficulty hike along the Kodar Range and Lake Baikal by the Sarov Center for Youth Tourism and Local Studies (CDYuTiE), a hiking-and-rafting trip by the association itself across the Southern Urals, and a Category 3 difficulty hike across the Kola Peninsula by a group from Sarov[2]. At that point the site already carried the diaries of Kodar-hike participants — Inna Kornilova, Alexander Olesnitsky, Vladimir Demidov, and Yulia Bochenkova — as well as a link to the article "This Is Kodar" in the newspaper "Gorodskoy Kurier" ("City Courier"), written about the same hike[2]. On 28 December 2002 the home page congratulated "Doroga Vetrov" and the site's visitors on the upcoming New Year with a poem about the "'Doroga Vetrov' ski base"[2]. On 13 April 2003 a news item called on members to join "TVT and the summer hikes," linking to the site http://www.fedtur.sarov.net[2]. On 2 July 2003, as the home page reported, "a new forum has opened for 'Doroga Vetrov,'" while the old forum was promised to remain accessible for some time longer[2].

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The site was listed by the nn.ru directory in the "/rub/" section[1] — meaning it was counted as part of the Nizhny Novgorod internet through that directory's coverage area, which included sites from Sarov as a city of Nizhny Novgorod Region.
