Daryino

A village in Sormovo District between Varya and Sormovo District.

Also known as Daryino-vyselki.

Attested since the 17th century, incorporated into Sormovo in 1924. According to legend, the name is connected to one of two bandit sisters, Marya and Darya, who preyed on travelers along the road beside the Volga. Some accounts hold that Darya was the daughter of a bandit named Soroma.
