csb.r52.ru was the website of a Nizhny Novgorod company, Center for Security Systems ("Центр Систем Безопасности"), which supplied, designed, installed and serviced security and fire alarm systems and other technical protection systems. The company's office was located at 603002, Nizhny Novgorod, Sovnarkomovskaya Street, 25; the home page listed the phone numbers (8312) 44-46-36, 77-66-61, 77-62-85, fax 77-67-37, and the email address csb@r52.ru[1]. The site lived on a third-level domain in the Nizhny Novgorod zone r52.ru; the earliest surviving snapshot is dated June 3, 2002[1], and the last one August 29, 2007[3].

A single page instead of a site

Judging by the archived snapshots, in its early years the entire site fit on a single page: a header with the company name, a contacts block, a list of services, and a few paragraphs about the firm itself. No separate navigation is visible in the preserved text — the only internal link led to a price list: "A detailed list of the products supplied is presented in the price list," as the home page stated[1].

The page did not change for years. The snapshot from July 29, 2003 repeats the 2002 snapshot word for word — the same address, the same phone numbers, the same text, and the same copyright line, "© 2002 Center for Security Systems"[2]. The footer carried two service notes typical of Nizhny Novgorod sites of the early 2000s: "Coding by 'R52.RU'" and "Hosting by r52.ru"[1]. That is, both the development and the hosting of the site had been commissioned from the same local platform whose domain it bore.

What the Center offered

The list of services on the home page named seven areas: security and fire alarm systems, panic alarm systems, automatic fire suppression, notification systems, video surveillance, access control, and perimeter protection[1]. For each of them the company claimed a full cycle — from wholesale supply of equipment to design, installation, and subsequent maintenance.

The firm's own text emphasized two things. The first was range: the Center promised "the full spectrum of security products, from consumables to modern integrated security systems manufactured in various countries," explaining this by direct ties with manufacturers and major suppliers[1]. The second was the formal side of the business: equipping facilities was carried out "with regard to the requirements of applicable regulations of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia," and the staff were described as specialists with relevant training and "the appropriate clearance"[1]. A separate paragraph addressed the confidentiality of information obtained in the course of the work, "given the specific nature of the tasks involved"[1]. The page closed with the one phrase that read as advertising copy: "The more reliably your property is protected, the calmer your life becomes, so it is important to make the right choice!"[1]

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The site was listed in the nn.ru directory, in its category section (/rub/), with a description that repeated the list of services from the home page word for word. This is a typical case, for the Nizhny Novgorod Internet of the time, of a corporate calling card: the site existed not for traffic but as a reference about the firm for those who were already looking for a security-systems contractor.

Csb.r52.ru does not appear in the final voting table of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day for 2004[4]. Nor does it appear in the surviving samples of the Counter.nn.ru counter — that is, there is no traffic data on it in the material underlying the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating. The absence of numbers says nothing about the company itself: narrowly specialized corporate sites rarely installed public counters and almost never entered competitions.

Relocation and disappearance of the domain

By the end of the address's existence, the site did get an update: the snapshot from August 29, 2007 shows a different design with the heading "::: Center for Security Systems :::," and the firm is named as an LLC ("ООО") in the page's service fields[3]. This snapshot is the last one for the address csb.r52.ru.

Later the site moved to its own second-level domain, csb-nn.ru: in the web archive, a request to the old address in 2009 already returns a redirect to the new one. The third-level domain csb.r52.ru itself was never restored after that and did not respond at the time of the survey.
