bogorodskmash.ru is the website of the Bogorodsk Machine-Building Plant (BMZ), an enterprise from the town of Bogorodsk in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, located 30 km from Nizhny Novgorod[2]. The site launched on 28 July 2003 and was the plant's own corporate resource: its contacts listed the address "607600, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Bogorodsk, Pushkina St. 24" and phone numbers with the Nizhny Novgorod long-distance code 831-70[1]. The factory version of the site lived for more than ten years — its snapshots survive from 2003 to 2014[3]; later the domain passed to an outside owner, and by 2025 it displayed a page for an online casino[5].

The 2003 site

The earliest surviving snapshot of the home page is dated 7 September 2003. The first and only news item on it was an entry dated 28 July 2003 about the launch of the plant's new website, meaning the resource itself was brand new at the time[1]. The menu of the first version was simple and typical for a corporate site of the early 2000s: home, about us, news, products, for dealers, for corporate clients, price list, contacts, site map[1].

The tone of the text was less technical than ceremonial: as the home page put it, the plant was "the conductor of the market," and every engine model was called a work of engineering art[1]. The footer listed two email addresses on the domain of a Nizhny Novgorod provider — bmz@sinn.ru and bmzmark@sinn.ru — as well as fax numbers (831-70) 233-64 and 233-57[1]. The enterprise presented itself as a leading domestic producer of universal engine lathes and ship engines — a phrase from the page description that later spread across catalogs[1].

What the plant said about itself

By the early 2010s the site had been rebuilt: the top menu consisted of the sections "Company," "Products," "Cooperation," "Supply," "Payment," "For Dealers," "Contacts," with "Bogorodsk," "Plant History," "Board of Honor," "Product Archive," and "For Shareholders" added on the side[2]. The home page explained the enterprise's geography in detail: convenient rail and road access, a connection to the Volga waterway system via the Dudenevo landing, and Bogorodsk's position in the geographic center of European Russia[2].

The production section was spelled out just as specifically. The site described Starrag-Heckert surface grinding machines capable of grinding beds weighing up to three tons, and separately praised the B16D25 engine lathe with an automatic gearbox that allowed changing spindle speed under load[2]. It also stated that the plant held a license from the Russian Ministry of Defense to produce military equipment, and that its quality system was certified to GOST R ISO 9001-2008[2]. A separate section covered the "Exen" trademark: CNC machining centers, CNC and manual lathes and milling machines, and band saws[2].

The December 2014 snapshot repeats the 2011 page almost word for word — the content of the home page had not changed in three years. The only difference is in the details of the contact information: the postal code is given as 607603, and the phone numbers are rewritten in a compact format, "(83170) 2-14-24," "(83170) 213-52," fax "(83170) 2-33-64" and "(83170) 2-33-57"[3]. The ship engines mentioned in the 2003 description[1] were no longer mentioned in the 2010s home page text: the focus had shifted entirely to metal-cutting equipment[2].

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The BMZ site was a factory representation, not a media project, and did not occupy a notable place in the public hierarchy of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet. It does not appear in the surviving samples of the Counter.nn.ru rating that underlie our Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating: we have no data on its traffic. The address bogorodskmash.ru does not appear in the final voting table of the 2004 Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day — among the Bogorodsk projects present there are others, for example the Bogorodsk city forum[4]. The site entered our census from the directory of the nn.ru Nizhny Novgorod catalog, where it was listed along with a description of the plant's products.

Fate of the domain

The last known snapshot of the factory version of the site was taken on 19 December 2014[3]. The address then changed content: a snapshot from 9 February 2025 shows not the plant but a page for the R7 online casino — with registration, bonus, and "mirror" sections; according to the page's own description, the platform has operated since 2024 under a Curaçao license[5]. This site has nothing to do with the enterprise itself: the domain, it appears, was picked up after the plant stopped renewing it.

The most recent web-archive snapshots of the address are dated November 2025 and already relate to this unrelated content[6]. Thus, all that remains of the Bogorodsk Machine-Building Plant's corporate site are archived copies of the home page from 2003, 2011, and 2014; the internal sections — "Plant History," "Board of Honor," "Product Archive" — are known only by the names of their menu items[2].
