nndoors.r52.ru was the website of a Nizhny Novgorod showroom for interior and entrance doors, "Alexandriyskie Dveri" (Alexandrian Doors). The showroom operated at 603105, Nizhny Novgorod, 27 Respublikanskaya Street; the pages listed a phone and fax number, +7 (831) 278-38-22, a wholesale department phone, +7 (831) 278 49 78, and an email address, nndoors@nndoors.ru[1][2]. As the home page stated, the showroom had existed "on the Nizhny Novgorod market since 1998"[1]. The site, in the Nizhny Novgorod domain zone r52.ru, is known from web archive snapshots from October 2002 to April 2012[3].

What the site looked like in 2008

In the March 2008 snapshot, the home page was titled "About the Company: 'Alexandriyskie Dveri'". The top menu was organized by manufacturer: "Alexandriyskie Dveri", "Volkhovets Doors", "Italian Doors", "Finnish Doors", "Dariano", "Fittings"; a separate line held the service link "website creation and hosting". The left-hand column contained four sections: "About the Company", "Our Activities", "Useful Information", "Contacts"[1].

The showroom described its range as follows: interior doors and fittings from "leading Russian manufacturers" — "Alexandriyskie Dveri" (Ulyanovsk), "Volkhovets" (Novgorod), "Dariano" (Ulyanovsk), "Sofia" (Moscow Region) — as well as doors made in Italy and Finland[1]. In the nn.ru directory card, the showroom was listed as an official dealer of the Ulyanovsk plant[3].

Besides sales, the showroom offered "a full range of related services": turnkey door installation — from a technician's visit to the client to measure openings, through to fitting glass and hardware — delivery, mounting, and warranty and post-warranty service. The showroom had its own door-restoration workshop: "If you happen to break the glass or scratch an expensive door, our experienced craftsmen will restore its original look," the home page stated. Among its clients it named not only private individuals but construction companies, trading organizations, and design studios, and offered one argument in support of its reputation: "One of the doors we made is installed in the office of the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region"[1].

A separate paragraph on the home page, headed "Our Civic Stance," stated that the firm sponsored the Nizhny Novgorod futsal team and was a partner of the "Limpopo" zoo[1].

What changed by 2012

In the last preserved snapshot, from April 26, 2012, the home page's title had become an expanded, search-oriented one: "'Alexandriyskie Dveri', Nizhny Novgorod | interior and metal doors made to order in Nizhny Novgorod." The menu changed too: instead of sections by country of origin, it now showed "Alexandriyskie Dveri", DARIANO, "NEMAN Steel Doors", "Flooring", and "Fittings"[2].

By this time the company reported three branches in Nizhny Novgorod: two in the Sovetsky district, one in the Leninsky district, with a route diagram in a separate section of the site. A measurement technician could be called to the client's home at 415-94-11; the same number appeared in the lines "CALL A MANAGER FOR AN ESTIMATE" and "BOOK A MEASUREMENT". Metal entrance doors and custom-design doors were added to the interior-door range, and the restoration workshop remained in operation[2].

Half of the 2012 home page was taken up by the terms of the "GROWTH RATE" promotion, which, according to the site's text, had run since April 1, 2009: a 10% discount on every third door, 25% on every fourth, and 40% on every fifth. There were more caveats than rules: the discount applied only to doors from a single collection, was calculated on the door slab and capitals (linear-footage items were priced per price list), applied only with full prepayment, and was reduced by a quarter for partial prepayment — "instead of 10%, count 7.5%", "instead of 25%, 18.75%", "instead of 40%, 30%" — rounded within 250 rubles[2].

Place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The site lived in the r52.ru zone, one of the address zones by which the Nizhny Novgorod Internet is recognized. Its trace in our data is a card in the nn.ru directory, from which both the showroom's description and its address are taken[3]. It does not appear in the surviving samples of the Counter.nn.ru counter, and no ranking positions or visit counts were recorded for it[3]. In the final vote tally of the 2004 Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day, neither the domain nndoors.r52.ru nor the showroom's name appears[4].

This is the ordinary state of affairs for a business-card website of a trading enterprise: it existed not for traffic or contests, but for a phone number and a route map. For more on how the sample from which such sites are known is compiled, see the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating.

How it closed

The last snapshot of the home page in the web archive is dated April 26, 2012[2]; in total, the web archive preserved 35 captures at this address, the first on October 10, 2002[3]. The domain nndoors.r52.ru did not exist at the time of the survey[3]. What became of the company's second address, given in its email, nndoors.ru, our materials do not say.
