Candidate of Legal Sciences. Immediately after finishing his studies he began working in the prosecutor's office of Saint Petersburg. Between 1992 and 2005 he rose from assistant prosecutor of the Vyborgsky District of Saint Petersburg to first deputy prosecutor of Saint Petersburg, serving 13 years in all. From the second half of February 2005, after the notorious events of December 2004 in Blagoveshchensk, he was appointed prosecutor of the Republic of Bashkortostan. 2005-2008 - Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District.
