Khanov Aleksandr Mikhaylovich (1889 — date of death unknown) was a Soviet party and government official, chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod Governorate Executive Committee from July 1920 to March 1921.[1] He played a role in the establishment of Soviet Power during the period immediately following the Civil War.
Revolutionary Activity and Early Years
By profession a proofreader and reporter.[1] In 1907 he joined the united RSDLP (Nizhny Novgorod organization) and carried out agitation work.[1] In 1908 and 1911 he was arrested and Nizhny Novgorod Ostrog.[1] He subsequently served in the army as a private, completed an infantry training unit, while continuing his party work.[1] He is officially recorded as a member of the RSDLP(b) from August 1917.[1] From 1918 he served in the Red Army.[1]
In Leadership Positions
In 1919 Khanov headed the Mogilev Governorate Executive Committee, and from July 1919 to July 1920 the Gomel Governorate Executive Committee.[1] In July 1920 the Central Committee of the RCP(b) dispatched him to Nizhny Novgorod, where he assumed the post of chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod Governorate Executive Committee.[1] Khanov's predecessor in this post was Vyacheslav Mikhaylovich Molotov, and his successor was Musheg Adriasovich Ter-Yegiazaryants.[1] In March 1921 Khanov was recalled from Nizhny Novgorod to the disposal of the Central Committee of the RCP(b).[1]
Khanov was a delegate to the 7th All-Russian Congress of Soviets; at the 8th All-Russian Congress of Soviets he was elected a member of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee.[1]
