rarus.nn.ru was the site of the "1С-Рарус НН" implementation center, the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Moscow firm "1С-Рарус"[1]. The firm handled comprehensive business automation across various sectors based on the "1С:Предприятие" (1C:Enterprise) programs, versions 7.7 and 8[1]; its office was located in Nizhny Novgorod, on the Nizhne-Volzhskaya Embankment[1]. The first snapshot of the address in the web archive is dated 24 November 2002[2], and the copyright notice in the surviving version of the site spans 2002-2011[1].

What survives

There is only one substantive copy of the home page in the available material — from 27 January 2012. The header carried the address: 603001, N. Novgorod, Nizhne-Volzhskaya embankment, 4, a phone and fax number (8312) 461-82-61, and the email info@rarus.nn.ru; the footer at the bottom of the page recorded the same number already under the new area code — (831) 461-82-61[1]. The menu consisted of the sections "News," "Company," "Products," "Services," "Training," "Prices," "Consulting," "Support line," and a forum[1]. Services were listed in six lines: comprehensive automation, implementation, support, trade automation, training, consulting[1].

A separate block laid out the branch's list of statuses: "1С:Франчайзи" (1C:Franchisee), competence centers in manufacturing, trade, budget accounting and construction, a center for developing mass-market solutions, a certified training center, an authorized certification center for "1С:Профессионал," a "1С:Консалтинг" partner, and a "1С-Битрикс" business partner; the same block reported that its quality management system was certified to ISO 9001:2008[1]. A news item dated 14 July confirmed this separately: the Nizhny Novgorod branch of "1С-Рарус" had passed certification against the new international standard[1].

Industry solutions: from poultry farms to travel agencies

The solutions catalog listed auto repair shops, car dealerships and auto parts stores, motor transport enterprises, fuel trading, hospitality and restaurant business, retail trade, furniture manufacturers, tourism organizations, pharmacies, outpatient clinics, investment companies and banks, and in the agricultural block, poultry farming stood as a separate line[1]. The product names read today like an inventory of the era: "Альфа-Авто: Автосалон + Автосервис + Автозапчасти 4.0" (Alpha-Auto: Dealership + Service + Parts 4.0), "1С-Рарус: Общепит 8.0" (1C-Rarus: Catering 8.0), "1С-Рарус: Магазин парфюмерии и косметики" (1C-Rarus: Perfume and Cosmetics Store), "1С-Рарус: Торговый комплекс. Продовольственные товары" (1C-Rarus: Trade Complex. Food Products), "1С-Рарус: Мебельное предприятие 2.0" (1C-Rarus: Furniture Enterprise 2.0), "1С-Рарус: Турагентство 1.0" (1C-Rarus: Travel Agency 1.0)[1].

The news recorded implementations at specific clients — OAO "ТГК-6" (TGK-6) and ZAO "Птицефабрика Невская" (Nevskaya Poultry Farm), which was supplied with "1С:Бухгалтерия птицефабрики 8" (1C:Poultry Farm Accounting 8)[1] — while a message from 24 December announced the merger of "1С-Рарус" and "1С:Франчайзи-НН"[1]. An entire block on the home page was devoted to the fight against piracy: three issues of the "Компьютерное пиратство" (Computer Piracy) bulletin in PDF, a list of "5 main reasons to use only licensed accounting software," and advice to buyers of a new computer to "make sure it has a new copy of Windows XP installed"[1]. At the bottom hung a "Book of Complaints and Suggestions" with a separate address for the quality control service, k@rarus.nn.ru, and links to other "1С-Рарус" locations — in Moscow, Ryazan, Saint Petersburg, Sochi and Kazan[1].

By the time of the snapshot the page had already stood still for a while: the latest news linked to 2009 publications, among the events was a "3600 as a gift" promotion dated 1-30 November 2009, and the most recent announcements invited visitors to webinars and seminars on 28 April, 25 May and 7 June 2011, and to a seminar on 28-29 June[1].

A place in the Nizhny Novgorod internet

The site had a presence in the region's visibility metrics: according to the Archival study of the Nizhny Novgorod internet from the counter.nn.ru rating Counter.nn.ru, its score was 135.0. In the 2004 Nizhny Novgorod Internet Day vote, the site received one vote[3]; in the contest entry it was listed as "'1C-Рарус НН': business automation software," and the description was given not to the firm but to its publication: "'Территория учета' ('Accounting Territory') — a monthly information-and-analysis periodical for accountants, firm managers, executives and programmers"[3]. The counter and its ranking were regional, so the mere presence on the list is evidence that the site was considered part of the Nizhny Novgorod Internet: not a portal with thousands of visitors, but a working tool of the firm, to which the public vote lent at most a symbolic mention.

How it closed

The departure was prepared in advance: the same 2012 page carried a notice, "Attention! Current information is available on the site www.rarus-nn.ru"[1] — the firm was moving to a domain with a hyphen instead of a dot, out of the nn.ru zone into the general one.

In our census the address's lifespan is closed as of 2018[2]. There is no longer a substantive page at this address: the later snapshots are titled "Начальная страница домена rarus.nn.ru" (Landing page of the domain rarus.nn.ru) — a standard placeholder; since 2022 the address has sat parked, and it is possible the domain has passed to another owner[2]. The last snapshot in the web archive is dated 27 June 2024[2].
